Resumo

A Síndrome Pós-cuidados Intensivos (PICS) refere-se a déficits físicos, cognitivos e psicológicos que acometem pacientes sobreviventes de doenças críticas, persistindo além do período de hospitalização e comprometendo significativamente sua qualidade de vida e funcionalidade. Paralelamente, os familiares desses pacientes frequentemente enfrentam uma intensa sobrecarga emocional, condição reconhecida como Síndrome Pós-cuidados Intensivos Familiar (PICS-F). Este artigo, por meio de uma revisão da literatura, tem como objetivo discutir os principais aspectos da PICS, com ênfase nos domínios cognitivo, emocional e psicológico, assim como da PICS-F, especialmente no que se refere às repercussões emocionais vivenciadas pelos familiares. Ademais, são apresentadas estratégias de prevenção e intervenção conduzidas por psicólogos hospitalares atuantes em Unidades de Terapia Intensiva (UTIs), com o propósito de minimizar os efeitos dessas síndromes na prática clínica e contribuir para a reabilitação integral dos pacientes, bem como para o apoio psicológico efetivo às suas famílias.
