Intersexuality
the challenge for constructing gender identity

The sexual assigned generally by surgical intervention and/or hormonal therapy, is the main goal of the health teams that they deal with intersexual cases. However, important questions associates to the gender identity and gender role had still not been elucidated, meanly according the current evolution of the Developmental Psychology theories. So being, the present inquiry had focus on describe and understand subject ́s attributed intersexual condition along the gender construction process. So being, three children of six years of age diagnosed of male pseudo-hermaphroditism and true hermaphroditism had been interviewed. The observational methodology has also being adopted by videotaping playing situation with masculine and feminine stereotypes toys associates. The results revealed that gender identity seems to correspond to the designated sex when have had some orientation. A forum to evaluate the subject ́s participation in the therapeutical conduct is proposed.
