psychoanalytic crossings during the Covid-19 pandemic

The article addresses the insertion of psychoanalysis into the hospital setting during the Covid-19 pandemic, focusing on the experience of Virtual Family Visits – VVF in a public healthcare service, as a modality of health information technology. The discussion focuses on the subjective impacts of hospital isolation and the psychic effects of the imminence of death, articulating psychoanalytic concepts—such as the analyst’s discourse, desire, mourning, and the real—with clinical practice in emergency situations. The importance of listening to the suffering subject in technology-mediated contexts, such as video calls, is highlighted—pointing to the possibility of symbolic elaboration of suffering through speech and the presence of the Other. The article defends the ethics of psychoanalysis as a stance that privileges the subject’s truth, evhospital ;en in the face of finitude and death, consolidating an interdisciplinary mode of intervention within the hospital setting.
